My friend David left full-time ministry to be a rancher in rural Washington. He said God was calling him to do it. At the time, I didn’t quite get it. I was still working under the assumption that God calls people into the ministry, not out of it. Leaving the ministry didn’t make sense. This is something I've been teaching for years here in the field to people who felt they have no value since they weren't called to full-time ministry. The whole series is worth a look. Especially if you're in a dead-end job wondering how on earth you honor the Lord flipping hamburger patties all day long. Even more interesting if you're in full-time ministry and look down on people who aren't.
But it does now.
